The Basil Event

It's a sad, sad story, but oh so true, that I am obligated to tell all! Four days ago, shortly after leaving a lovely little store in Winchester, Tx. with the proprietor's words, "be careful" still on my mind I screwed up big time! Connie, I hate to have to admit to this, but while in a tight paceline going about 22 mph, I ran up the back wheel of Cindy's Specialized, and suddenly I was traveling at exactly zero mph!
My first thought was for my bicycle. I knew I was okay; well I was bleeding quite a bit and my right hand got to be about 50 % larger pretty quickly, but I knew there was nothing broken. Bleeding is okay, but a break is a game finisher. I suffered road rash on all points of contact; shoulder, elbow(along with the bad cut), hand( along with the bruise), hip and a bit on the outside of my knee. My shorts are pretty much history.
The crew came to my rescue, Taz had one of Knobby's bandanas with which she bound up a pretty bad cut on my elbow. Bob & Cindy put all my stuff back into my handlebar bag and checked out the bike. The general concensus was that I needed a few stitches, but I refused. I'm an old mountain biker, and these sort of injuries happen quite often.
Well, don't you know, we just set off riding again and now, four days later, the "Crash" is just a fading memory.
It's hard to hurt an old Greek!
Yiasou Levendi! That's Greek for "suck it up and keep pedaling.
