We have been riding though logging country the past couple of days. The log trucks are constantly going past us in one direction or the other. They often leave little bits of debris along the side of the road.
We were all riding together along this fairly smooth road not far into Louisiana and about 15 miles til we got to camp. I was looking down at the map on my handle bars then BAM! I was picking myself up off the ground, rather slowly! I ran lengthwise over a "log" that had fallen off one of the trucks. (You will see the log below in a pic) Cindy was calling it a log. The bike went completely side ways as the tire rolled of the side of the debris. My head and shoulder hit first and hardest...I cracked my helmet.

Then Basil about ran over my head as I was on the ground. That black mark is where his tire hit my helmet.

Needless to say I'm very glad I have a couple of spare helmets with me. I rung my bell pretty good. Maybe a slight concussion. I was woozy for a good while. I'm also very glad we have a SAG and were able to call Karlie out to pick me up as a precaution. I also got the bridge of my nose cut by my sunglasses, and a fair amount of road rash. Luckily I bounced more than slid and I have a spot here and there...my right shoulder, my left shoulder blade, elbow, knee, knuckle and so on...you get the picture! Oh wait...here is one of me with my "LOG" :)

The bike suffered minor damage as seen below...ripped tape and scuffed up aero bar ends.

Thanks to the whole gang for helping me get myself back together and making sure I wasn't knocked as silly as I could have been. Also, thanks to the wife of the local sheriff for stopping to check on us too. Oh yes, the stick(LOG) is going home with us...as a momento. Now, If I can just keep Knobby from pulling it out to chew on it and play with it as she did this evening!
