Basil's story...

Okay, so on day 4 I end up with heat exhaustion, or sunstroke or dehydration, or all three! I felt like I was dying and it did not take much for Taz to convince me not to ride on day 5. I might have made five miles, but I doubt it. Instead I spent the day sleeping and rehydrating, with a lot of coaching and support from the others. I returned to the road on day 6 and we made 52.67 miles to the outskirts of Phoenix. I felt great, but it was an easy day. Tomorrow and the next day will be a real challange, with temps in the 100's several 1000's of feet climbing. There will be long stretches with no services. I do feel myself again, and I look forward to riding through some of the most awesome high mountain desert on earth with three friends. Stay tuned!
